Le Président de l’Assemblée des États Parties se félicite de la publication de l’avis de vacance pour le poste de Procureur de la CPI

Le mandat du Procureur actuel de la Cour pénale internationale expirera le 15 juin 2021. L’Assemblée des États Parties, agissant conformément au mandat que lui confère l’article 112 du Statut de Rome de la Cour pénale internationale (le Statut de Rome), a donc engagé le processus de sélection du prochain Procureur.
Le Président de l’Assemblée des États Parties, M. O-Gon Kwon (République de Corée), se félicite de la publication de l’avis de vacance pour le poste du nouveau Procureur de la CPI.
« Par cet avis, l’Assemblée des États Parties, assistée du Comité pour l’élection du Procureur, cherche à attirer les candidats les plus qualifiés pour le poste de Procureur de la Cour pénale internationale. Ce n’est qu’à l’issue d’un processus transparent et structuré que l’Assemblée pourra élire le Procureur le plus qualifié pour la Cour. »
Le paragraphe 3 de l’article 42 du Statut de Rome énonce les principaux critères auxquels doivent satisfaire les candidats à ce poste. Conformément au Statut de Rome, la CPI vise à assurer une représentation équitable des femmes et des hommes pour tous les postes, la représentation des principaux systèmes juridiques du monde pour les postes juridiques et une représentation géographique équitable dans le recrutement du personnel.

L’Assemblée des États Parties est le principal administrateur et le corps législatif de la CPI. Elle est composée des représentants des États qui ont ratifié le Statut de Rome ou y ont adhéré. Le Président Kwon a été élu Président de l’Assemblée pour un mandat de trois ans en décembre 2017.

President of the Assembly of States Parties welcomes the publication of the vacancy announcement for the position of Prosecutor of the ICC

The term of the current Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court will expire on 15 June 2021. The Assembly of States Parties, acting pursuant to its mandate under article 112 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (the Rome Statute), has initiated the process for the selection of the next Prosecutor.
The President of the Assembly of States Parties, Mr. O-Gon Kwon (Republic of Korea), welcomes the publication of the vacancy announcement for the position of the next Prosecutor of the ICC.
“With this announcement the Assembly of States Parties, assisted by the Committee on the Election of the Prosecutor, is seeking to attract the most qualified candidates for the position of Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. It is only through a transparent and structured process that the Assembly will be able to elect the highest qualified Prosecutor for the Court.”
Article 42, paragraph 3, of the Rome Statute sets out the main criteria to be fulfilled by candidates for the position. In accordance with the Rome Statute, the ICC aims to achieve fair representation of women and men for all positions, representation of the principal legal systems of the world for legal positions, and equitable geographical representation for positions in the professional category.

The Assembly of States Parties is the management oversight and legislative body of the ICC. It is comprised of representatives of States that have ratified and acceded to the Rome Statute. President Kwon was elected President of the Assembly for a three year mandate in December 2017.
